Ultra-compact Design Stands Out For Comfort and Productivity
Las Vegas, Nev., Feb. 3, 2015 – Bosch cut the cord for commercial drywallers with the Bosch SGH182 18V EC Brushless Screwgun that delivers the performance of a corded model without the limitations of a cord.
“Mobility is essential for professional drywallers – especially when they’re working on commercial jobsites or lifts. In those situations, traditional corded screwgun power cords are constantly rolled over and destroyed,” said Jim Stevens, product manager, BOSCH POWER TOOLS. “The SGH182 offers pros complete and much-needed freedom of movement, which will result in a more efficient and productive job.”
Exceptional cordless tool runtime is gold to every tradesman, but none more than the drywaller. Combining the state-of-the-art, high-efficiency Bosch EC brushless motor with the BAT620 4.0 Ah 18V lithium-ion battery, the SGH182 drives up to 3400 screws on a single charge, according to internal Bosch lab tests – more than twice the number of competitors. The tool promises to drive even more screws per charge with the new BAT621 5.0Ah 18V battery, which is sold separately.
“The SGH182 is compatible with all Bosch 18V lithium-ion batteries as part of the brand’s Flexible Power System, which allows pros to utilize their existing batteries and complementary tools, such as impact drivers. We’ve added performance without adding weight or size, so drywallers can work for many hours with minimal fatigue, even overhead,” said Stevens.
At the core of SGH182 performance is proprietary Bosch technology:
The SGH182 is the lightest power tool in its class at just 3.5 pounds (with a 4.0 Ah battery) and compact at 9.9-inch length. For overhead work, users can switch to the Bosch BAT612 2.0 Ah Slim Pack battery, which reduces tool weight to just 2.9 pounds. An ergonomic hand-hold contour and soft grip provide additional comfort, along with an ambidextrous forward/reverse control that’s designed to prevent users from unintentionally pressing the reversing control.
To give users the all-day precision they need, the SGH182 features a posi-lock nosepiece that retains the exact depth setting even after removal and reattachment. The nosepiece also doubles as a built-in bit remover for fast changes without pliers. Based on their preferences, users can also opt to engage the tool’s lock-on button and/or utilize the compatible MA55 Auto-Feed Attachment (sold separately) for even easier continuous work.
